Meet Johan – The Forklift Driver Who Enjoys Problem-Solving
Johan is the forklift driver who loves logistics and is passionate about problem-solving. After several years elsewhere, he has chosen to return to JGA, thanks to the good atmosphere and the short decision-making processes. “It’s still fun to go to work,” says Johan, who has now been part of the company for a total of 14 years.
Johan Fransson dreamed of becoming a mechanic and began his career as a repairman. Since then, he has worked in various wood industries, both in smaller and larger companies.
According to Johan, JGA is a medium-sized company with short decision-making processes – and maybe that’s exactly why he chose to return to the company? It’s not the first time Johan has worked at the sawmill in Linneryd.
A Varied and Independent Role
Johan started as an operator in the planer in 2006, and today he is a forklift driver in the loading area. In between, he went elsewhere, but chose to come back. In total, he has worked for 14 years at JGA.
“Working as a forklift driver is a varied job, and it’s still fun to go to work,” says Johan. It’s the combination of practical work with planning and office tasks that he enjoys.
“I plan my days independently, while we colleagues share the main responsibilities and help each other out.”
In addition to being responsible for transports within Sweden, Johan also maintains continuous dialogue with customers and other internal departments. Between loading and unloading, he prepares for upcoming transports.
“Being flexible and adjusting plans is part of the job, but it’s also part of the charm,” says Johan.
Good Team Spirit and Communication
Johan’s decision to return to JGA had much to do with the atmosphere among colleagues. The ability to combine work life with family life was also important to him.
He also feels that good communication is crucial, and he is in daily contact with both colleagues and drivers. He enjoys logistics, problem-solving, and working with continuous improvements.
Over Johan’s many years in the industry, much has changed. The pace is faster today, while driver comfort for forklift operators has improved. Communication is also facilitated by digital tools – instead of working harder, we can work more efficiently and smarter.
A Stable Workplace
According to Johan, JGA is characterized by great flexibility toward the market and customers, which he finds difficult to achieve in larger organizations. Quality and short lead times are important, and here Johan feels he can make a difference.
“JGA is a secure and stable workplace, and the company is an important hub in the local community. The company is growing, but it still retains short decision-making processes. There is a good sense of unity, and the fact that the company is family-owned also makes it feel stable and secure,” says Johan.
